
The Minnesota Wild have traded centre Frederick Gaudreau of Bromont, Quebec to the Seattle Kraken for a fourth round draft pick in the 2025 National Hockey League Entry Draft according to The Fourth Period on Thursday. The NHL Draft commences on Friday evening from Los Angeles, California.
Gaudreau is joining his fourth National Hockey League franchise. In addition to the Minnesota Wild who he played for from 2021 to 2025, Gaudreau played three seasons with the Nashville Predators from 2016 to 2019, and one season with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2020 to 2021.
This past season, Gaudreau had 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 82 games. He was a -2 with eight penalty minutes, five power-play points, two game-winning goals, 110 shots on goal, 529 faceoff wins, 61 blocked shots, 47 hits, 24 takeaways, and 50 giveaways.
Gaudreau’s first game-winning goal came on November 21 in a 5-3 Wild win over the Edmonton Oilers. Gaudreau scored from Ryan Hartman with two minutes and 58 seconds left in the second period to put the Wild up 4-3 at the time. Gaudreau’s second game-winning goal came on March 2 in a 1-0 Wild win over the Boston Bruins. Gaudreau scored from Marcus Johansson and Mats Zuccarello at 5:01 of the second period for the only goal of the game.
At the beginning of Gaudreau’s career, he made NHL history. In 2017 while with the Predators, he became the second player ever to score his first three goals in the Stanley Cup Finals according to the Associated Press. The only other player to do that was Johnny Harms of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1944 Stanley Cup Finals.
