There are three Canadian connections to the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday. American League starting first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec is with the Toronto Blue Jays, and National League starting first baseman Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers represents Canada internationally as both of his parents were born in Canada. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays will also be represented by catcher Alejandro Kirk.
Guerrero Jr. is an American League All-Star for a fifth straight year. He is batting .277 with 12 home runs and 46 runs batted in. During 94 games, 350 at bats, and 414 plate appearances, Guerrero Jr. has scored 59 runs, and had 97 hits, 19 doubles, five stolen bases, 56 walks, 152 total bases, two sacrifice flies, an on base percentage of .384, and a slugging percentage of .434.
Freeman is a National League All-Star for the ninth year. He was honoured with the Atlanta Braves in 2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, and 2021, and with the Dodgers the last four seasons. In 2025, Freeman batted .297 with 10 home runs and 49 runs batted in. During 84 games, 317 at bats and 356 plate appearances, Freeman has scored 46 runs, and had 94 hits, 25 doubles, one triple, one stolen base, 33 walks, 151 total bases, three sacrifice flies, an on base percentage of .365, and a slugging percentage of .476. Freeman’s triple came in a 10-1 Dodgers win over the Miami Marlins on May 7. Freeman also had a four hit game (one single, two doubles and one home run) in an 8-1 Dodgers win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 11.
Kirk is playing in his second All-Star Game. The first was in 2022. This season he is batting .303 with seven home runs and 45 runs batted in. During 81 games, 287 at bats, and 319 plate appearances, he scored 25 runs, and had 87 hits, nine doubles, 27 walks, 117 total bases, four sacrifice flies, an on base percentage of .361 and a slugging percentage of .408. Twice this season Kirk has had four hit games. The first time he had four singles in a 6-3 Blue Jays win over the Seattle Mariners on May 10, and the second time he had one single, two doubles and one home run in a 5-4 Blue Jays win over the St. Louis Cardinals on June 9.
