The Ottawa Senators have found a way to stay alive again in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. After facing elimination on Tuesday, the Senators won their second straight game as they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. The Senators had initially beaten the Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. The Maple Leafs had won the first three games of the series.

The Senators received a shutout from Linus Ullmark. This was Ullmark’s first National Hockey League postseason shutout. The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner had 12 regular season shutouts prior to Tuesday’s impressive performance where he had 29 saves.

Offensively, two Canadians on the Senators were able to score. They were defenseman Thomas Chabot of Sainte-Marie, Quebec and centre Dylan Cozens of Whitehorse, Yukon.

Chabot and Cozens registered their first career postseason goal. Chabot has been in the NHL for nine seasons and Cozens had been in the NHL for five seasons. Chabot scored the game-winning goal from Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle at 3:46 of the second period.

Cozens’s goal, meanwhile, was shorthanded. He is one of seven players to score a shorthanded goal in the postseason so far. He is joined by Marcus Foligno of the Minnesota Wild, William Karlsson of the Vegas Golden Knights, Reilly Smith of the Golden Knights (a native of Mimico, Ontario), Jordan Martinook of the Carolina Panthers (a native of Brandon, Manitoba), Shane Pinto of the Senators and Logan O’Connor of the Hurricanes.

Stutzle and Tkachuk also scored for the Senators on Tuesday. They both led the team with three points each as they both had two assists. Game six is Thursday in Ottawa.
