
Sarah Mitton of Liverpool, Nova Scotia won the bronze medal on Friday in the women’s shot put in the Damond League Monaco event. This was Mitton’s second medal at a Diamond League event in 2025. She finished third in Eugene, Oregon on July 5.
In the women’s shot put in Monaco, Mitton had a throw of exactly 20 metres. She reached the podium by 0.52 metres. Yemisi Ogunleye of Germany was in fourth place with a throw of 19.48 metres. Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands won the gold medal with a throw of 20.39 metres. Chase Jackson of the United States with a throw of 20.06 metres.
With the bronze medal in Monaco, Mitton qualified for the Diamond League Finals in Zurich, Switzerland on August 27. Mitton currently is in third place in the Diamond League standings with 22 points. She is only behind the Diamond League points leader, Jackson with 30 points, and Schilder, who is second place with 27 points.
This was the fourth of five Diamond League events this year. The fifth event is in Brussels, Belgium on August 22.
Mitton has now won 13 Diamond League medals. She has now won two gold medals, seven silver medals, and four bronze medals. The bronze medal in Monaco will give Mitton confidence as she prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
