James Reimer records 31st career NHL shutout

Buffalo Sabres goaltender James Reimer of Morweena, Manitoba collected his 31st National Hockey League career shutout on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Sabres win over the Carolina Hurricanes at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

Reimer made 33 saves. He made 12 saves in the first period, nine saves in the second period, and 12 saves in the third period.  Seth Jarvis of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Sebastian Aho led the Hurricanes with five shots on goal each. The Sabres goal scorers were JJ Peterka, Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch. Canadians Jack Quinn of Ottawa, Ontario, defenseman Bowen Byram of Cranbrook, British Columbia, and Ryan McLeod of Mississauga, Ontario had assists for Buffalo.

In 2024-25, Reimer has a record of nine wins, six regulation losses and two losses in extra time. He has one shutout with a goals against average of 2.59 and a save percentage of .910.

Of Reimer’s 31 shutouts, this was his first with the Sabres. Reimer is in his first year in Buffalo after signing a one year deal worth $1 million on July 2, 2024. Eleven of Reimer’s shutouts have been with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also has had seven shutouts each with the Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks, three shutouts with the Carolina Hurricanes and two shutouts with the Detroit Red Wings.
