
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Nick Pivetta of Victoria, British Columbia recorded his 63rd Major League Baseball quality start on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in an 8-2 Padres win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
Of Pivetta’s 63 quality starts, eight have now come with the San Diego Padres. Pivetta also has 19 quality starts with the Philadelphia Phillies and 36 quality starts with the Boston Red Sox.
On Sunday, Pivetta also recorded his seventh win of the season in nine decisions, as he has two losses. He pitched seven innings, and gave up two hits, two earned runs, and one walk, to go along with nine strikeouts. Pivetta also threw 94 pitches of which 67 pitches were strikes.
Pivetta has pitched in 14 games this season, and has an earned run average of 3.40. In 79 1/3 innings pitched, he has given up 61 hits, 30 earned runs, nine home runs, and 22 walks, to go along with 88 strikeouts, and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.05.
With the win, the Padres improved to a record of 39 wins and 31 losses. They are in third place in the National League West, and three games back of the division leading Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres also have the final wildcard spot in the National League, and lead the Milwaukee Brewers by a game and a half.
