The Chicago Cubs continue to lead the National League Central. On Sunday, American-born Canadian Jameson Taillon continued his exceptional pitching for Chicago as he began the month of June with the 97th quality start of his Major League Baseball career.

Taillon was sensational once again on Sunday, as he pitched six and a third innings, and gave up two earned runs, three hits, one walk, and one home run, to go along with two strikeouts in a 7-3 Cubs win over the Cincinnati Reds. He threw 97 pitches of which 63 pitches were strikes, and recorded his fifth victory of the season. This was Taillon’s third straight appearance where he had a quality start and a win. He accomplished the feat on May 20 in a 14-1 Cubs win over the Miami Marlins, and on May 26 in a 3-1 Cubs win over the Colorado Rockies.

In 12 games this season, Taillon has a record of five wins and three losses with an earned run average of 3.76. During 69 1/3 innings pitched, he has given up 57 hits, 289 earned runs, 16 home runs, and 13 walks. Taillon also has six quality starts, 53 strikeouts, and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.01. The Cubs are currently at 38 wins and 23 losses, and lead the second place St. Louis Cardinals by four and a half games in the NL Central.
